GIS Workshop

Helping organizations get to a better place through GIS solutions since 1999.

About Us

Our values guide how we deliver our purpose, products, and services. Our approach allows us to be flexible, focusing on customer needs and how we can match the right solutions to meet those needs. Our service-based business model extends from our Executive Staff and Project Managers through to our support team and developers.

Why We Do It

For thousands of years, people have used maps and information to discover a better place, whether that's a better decision, a better outcome, or a better location. The need to discover or get somewhere better hasn't changed -- but the technology has. We help others discover a better place. Our values guide how we serve this purpose. GIS technology, the integration of data and digital mapping, is what we use to make our purpose a reality. A full list of our services can be found on our services page.

Our Values

• Nothing less than ecstatic clients
• We're dependable
• The best GIS solutions so that "X" always marks the spot
• Our inquisitive nature compels us to be always learning, always improving
• Opportunity based on merit

Who We Serve

In our quest to help others discover a better place, we work with government agencies at various levels, private enterprises, and utilities and public works.

By allowing these entities to visualize their location-based information through GIS solutions, we can help each of them drastically improve speed, efficiency, and access to information. All of this leads to direct improvements in operational efficiency for an organization.

Our History

Witnessing a county official struggling through a variety of cumbersome paper maps and deeds just to identify a rural parcel was the spark that led to GIS Workshop’s founding in 1999. Putting all of those documents into a Geographic Information System (GIS), or digital map, would provide immediate access to the parcel’s identity along with other critical spatial data, enabling that official to shorten and streamline her workflow while being able to devote the freed time to critical tasks. Since our founding, GIS Workshop has delivered this increased workflow efficiency through the power of GIS to scores of local government entities and private enterprises in desktop, web, and mobile environments. Just as maps have helped mankind avoid treacherous or vast terrain throughout history, GIS Workshop’s GIS solutions and services help our clients avoid the pitfalls of lost or disparate data and circumvent complex, lengthy workflow processes.

Our Team

Our dynamic mix of solutions consultants, GIS experts, and application developers keeps us on the leading edge of spatial technology.

  • Maps are like campfires – everyone gathers around them, because they allow people to understand complex issues at a glance, and find agreement about how to help the land.

  • They were maps that lived, maps that one could study, frown over, add to; maps, in short, that really meant something.

  • A map does not just chart, it unlocks and formulates meaning; it forms bridges between here and there, between disparate ideas that we did not know were previously connected.
